Membership Eligibility: Licensed surgeons of good character and standing who are under the age of 65 years. They have to be surgeons who are certified by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) approved surgical specialty board. The membership of the Illinois Surgical Society consists of a blend of academic and non-academic surgeons from Chicago and "downstate" Illinois. Our spring meeting is unique in using the "wet clinic" concept. This is a great opportunity to watch the university surgeons in Chicago actually perform the operations and to get to interact with them in their operating room. The fall meetings are held "downstate" and every third year, in an elegant out of state locale. Please visit the future meetings page for our planned meetings.
